Join the Association of Palliative Care Social Workers Australia
PCSWA represents social workers who provide palliative and end of life care and bereavement support in Australia, regardless of the setting in which they work, including those social workers with an interest in this area.

We have an elected national committee that provide leadership and direct the work of the Association. They are supported by a team of Social Work Consultants with expertise to help guide and advance the mission of PCSWA.

All officers of the Association volunteer their time in addition to their work responsibilities.
Membership

PCSWA connects colleagues and promotes professional development and leadership within the profession in palliative care, end of life care and bereavement.

PCSWA provides a united voice for the social work profession to advocate for critical changes that supports and promotes the profession as well as enhancing palliative care, end of life care and bereavement
Who can join PCSWA?
PCSWA is open to Social Workers who are eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and meet any of the following criteria:
Full Membership
  • Works in a specialist palliative care service
  • Holds an academic or supervisory role in palliative care
  • Works in non-specialist palliative care roles and provides social work interventions to people who have end of life, bereavement or palliative care needs and/or their families or caregivers (this includes social workers in private practice, community based or not for profit organisations, or in other primary care or statutory settings)
  • Has an interest or passion for excellence in palliative care
Associate Membership
  • A Student Social Worker with an interest in palliative care
  • A Social Worker who has previously worked in palliative care and maintains an ongoing interest.
*PCSWA recognises the importance of Aboriginal Health Workers and Practitioners in Palliative Care and the value they contribute to their clients, community, services and the palliative care sector. There is often limited support, networking and educational opportunities for Aboriginal Palliative Care Health Workers/Practitioners and PCSWA can provide a role in this support.

*PCSWA would like to extend Associate membership to Aboriginal Health Practitioners/Workers who work in palliative care services and who have an interest in networking, education, mentoring, collaboration and consultation with PCSWA social work members.
